Intro to Piano

Ages 6-8
Sundays at 10 a.m.
Introductory piano lessons concentrating on proper sitting, finger placement, identifying parts of the keyboard, and introductory music notes and symbols.

The aim of this class is for children to have fun while being introduced to music, musical theory, and the piano. We will work towards being able to perform a short piece semi-annually, but we will not allow performance to drive our learning. Performance is a lovely product of the time with music.

Example of a Group Lesson Format

  • Students will arrive no more than 5 minutes before their lesson.

  • Students will enter from the rear of the home, remove their shoes, and wash their hands before entering the music room.

  • Students will take their seats on their assigned floor pillow.

  • Once all students are seated, we will review our previous week's lesson.

  • Each student will have one-on-one time with me while the other students work on their lesson sheets.

  • A new lesson will be presented.

  • Home Practice sheets will be placed in folders, and music books will be updated to show newly assigned pages.

  • Practice cards will be reviewed and updated.

  • Sing-alongs, naming the note, naming the octave, and similar games will be played throughout lessons.

Investment

  • Lessons are $100 per month for 4 lessons due on the first lesson of each month.

  • A calendar will be shared via Google and we will avoid all holiday weekends.

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months.

  • At least 1 month notice before cancellation so that we may advertise the open seat.
